DIY Acne Scar Treatment

Acne pustules and cysts can leave behind scars and discolorations on the skin. These discolorations can cause the skin to appear blotchy and uneven. Luckily, there are many homemade and effective skin masks that can be applied to diminish the appearance of acne scars, and help them to disappear more quickly.

Step 1. Mix 2 tbsp. of baking soda with around 1 tsp. of water. - This will create a paste that should be spread onto the skin that contains scarring. Leave the baking soda mask on the skin for at least 5 minutes, then rinse the mask away with water. Do this 2 times per week to help eliminate acne scars.

Step 2. Using Castor or olive Oil - massaged deeply onto the skin for 2 minutes, then allowed to remain on the skin for 10 more minutes. Then, a washcloth should be dipped into steaming hot water and wrung out, then draped over the face. The steam will further loosen and soften the skin. After the washcloth cools, use it to remove any remaining oil. An oil mask can be used every day to treat acne scars.

Step 3. Using Lemon Juice- soak 5 to 6 cotton pads in concentrated lemon juice, then drape them onto the face; at least 2 for the forehead, 1 for the chin and 2 for the cheeks. Allow the cotton pads to sit on the skin for at least 10 minutes, then remove them. Allow the skin to air dry. You can use a lemon juice mask up to 3 times per day to treat acne scars.
